Una de las fotos más famosas de Vaclav Havel en el castillo de Praga es en la que lleva puesta una camiseta de los 'Rolling Stones' para recibir a Mick Jagger. En un gesto simbólico, Havel recibía la llegada de la libertad a la República Checa poniéndose su uniforme. Cuando su cuerpo pase hoy por última vez por el Castillo de Praga, muchos jóvenes checos llevarán puesta una camiseta con el rostro de Havel grabado en serigrafía, de las que vendedores ambulantes suministran en el centro de la ciudad, en un simbólico abrazo al tipo específico de libertad que el ex presidente checo defendió hasta el último de sus días.
Los restos del ex mandatario, activista y dramaturgo han sido trasladados este miércoles desde la capilla ardiente instalada en la Encrucijada de Praga, la iglesia gótica en la que ha recibido el último adiós de decenas de miles de checos, al Castillo de Hradcany. El coche fúnebre atravesó a primera hora de la mañana el centro histórico de la ciudad, por el Puente de Carlos y la calle Nerudova, hasta el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores. Allí fue colocado el féretro sobre un afuste de artillería y escoltado por la guardia de honor y 600 miembros del Ejército.
El ataúd ha sido instalado en la representativa Sala de Vladislao del Castillo de Praga, escenario de su primera elección a la magistratura suprema, el 29 de diciembre de 1989. Allí permanecerá hasta el viernes, cuando se oficiará la misa funeral en la Catedral de San Vito.
A pesar de su indiscutible herencia política e intelectual, en la interminable lista de entrevistas que conceden estos días quienes le conocieron y quienes compartieron con él los años de lucha contra el comunismo, lo que más destacan es que siempre se mostró como un hombre humilde y educado que no se acobardaba ante las amenazas.
Amor por la música
Su amiga y también miembro de 'Carta 77', Petruska Sustrova, reflexiona hoy desde las páginas de un diario de Praga sobre cómo Havel, usualmente, tenía la última palabra sobre todo lo que publicaban, pero se negaba a reconocer su propia influencia y, "desde luego, tenía muy claro que no quería entrar en política".
También recuerda cómo Havel llevó su amor por la música y la contracultura en directo al Castillo de Praga, la Casa de Gobierno. "Como lo encontraba demasiado grande como para recorrerlo a pie, usaba un 'scooter' para desplazarse por sus pasillos e invitó al roquero Frank Zappa a ser asesor de cultura en 1990". Posteriormente, hizo las gestiones para que el grupo checo de rock 'The Plastic People' tocaran con su amigo Lou Reed en la Casa Blanca frente a Bill Clinton, a quien previamente había convencido para que tocara el saxofón en un club de jazz en la Praga postcomunista. "Cuando invitó a los 'Rolling Stones' a tocar en un parque de la ciudad, nadie tenía dinero para pagarles, pero por Havel tocaron gratis e hicieron un show que muchos checos aún recuerdan como la confirmación definitiva de que el comunismo se había terminado", rememora.
Muchas de esas personalidades que disfrutaron en vida del carácter rompedor y libérrimo de Havel llegarán a Praga el viernes para honrar al estadista con su último adiós. El presidente francés, Nicolas Sarkozy ha anunciado ya su asistencia, al igual que la canciller alemana, Angela Merkel y la secretaria de Estado estadounidense, Hillary Clinton, y su esposo, el ex presidente Bill Clinton, o el presidente israelí Simon Peres. El dirigente histórico del sindicato Solidaridad y ex presidente polaco Lech Walesa también prevé viajar a Praga.
A primera hora de la mañana, los diputados checos le han rendido homenaje con un minuto de silencio al ex disidente y héroe de la 'Revolución de Terciopelo' anticomunista de 1989, y la presidenta de la Cámara, Miroslava Nemcova, ha leído ante la asamblea fragmentos de discursos de Vaclav Havel. Los ciudadanos hacen ya cola para pasar frente al ataúd y firmar el libro de condolencias.

The hearse passed through early in the morning the historic city center, on the Charles Bridge and Nerudova Street, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There was placed the coffin on an artillery front stock and escorted by an honor guard and 600 members of the Army.
The coffin has been installed in the representative Vladislav Hall of Prague Castle, the scene of his first election to the supreme magistracy, the December 29, 1989.Stay there until Friday, when funeral Mass will officiate in the Cathedral of St. Vitus.
